Announced at the CIEH Awards – David Edwards to join Shieldyourself as strategic advisor

We are delighted to report that both finalist places for the highly-acclaimed CIEH Outstanding Achievement category were awarded to Shieldyourself.

As revealed in our recent blog Mark Flanagan was shortlisted at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Awards which took place on the 11th July. The Shieldyourself MD made it down to the final two in the Outstanding Achievement category and was in good company as the other place was taken by a new Shieldyourself team member.

Winner David Edwards used the ceremony as the platform to reveal his new position as Strategic Advisor for the Manchester-based consultancy. David remarked that the two finalists were an indication of “the old and the new” in the industry.

The Awards ceremony held at the House of Lords, celebrating excellence in the industry, was an apt setting to deliver the news that the CMi Plc Founder would be taking a place on the new Shieldyourself Strategy Board.

David Edwards is an excellent fit for the company; with over 30 years’ experience in the industry and a reputation for establishing Environmental Health Practitioners in private practice. As one of the first to establish mobile auditor technology, David will be well-placed at the company renowned for their innovative software, the Compliance Centre, and the team’s unique way of delivering audits. His personal ventures include jointly authorising a best-selling BBC consumer guide and leading successful FSA research projects.

David Edwards is the latest addition to the new advisory panel formed of industry experts in recent months, following the appointment of John Barnes, Mike Wilson and Sandra Walbran. The skilled Strategy Board will look at the future of regulation and compliance, identify up and coming trends and ensure that Shieldyourself stay ahead of the curve.

Having built up CMi Plc from scratch to a business that traded in 60 countries, this change of company for the entrepreneur is an exciting opportunity for Shieldyourself. Speaking about his motives for this move, David Edwards said:

“I see Shieldyourself as the future of this industry. The decision came after a great deal of thought but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join a young, innovative and fast-moving company. It’s an exciting time for Shieldyourself and I want to be involved.”

The results of last week’s Awards highlight Shieldyourself’s place as industry leaders. With the company constantly growing in size – employing the largest number of EHPs in the country – and an increasing range of products and services, their place as the number one consultancy in the hospitality sector is secure.

Now such industry experts are working with the team there are no signs of things slowing down any time soon. Look out for a full interview with David Edwards coming soon.
