Introducing… Food Safety Membership and Primary Authority

Primary Authority

The benefits of having a Primary Authority partnership are plentiful, as we took you through in our blog Do I need a Primary Authority? Here at Shield Safety Group, we are extremely proud of our Coordinated Primary Authority Partnership with Milton Keynes Council and are excited to announce that our Food Safety Membership Pack has Primary Authority Advice.

What does Primary Authority Advice mean?

Clients who purchase the Food Safety Membership Pack will automatically become a Business Group Member of a regulated group under the Coordinated Primary Authority Partnership between Shield Safety Group and Milton Keynes Council. Business Group Members will appear on the Regulatory Delivery Primary Authority Advice register.

Primary Authority Advice is assured, which means that provided that you abide by the advice you are given, you won’t need to follow conflicting advice from other sources. Your business should be protected against the risk of enforcement action from enforcing authorities that have different views on what you should be doing to achieve compliance. As long as you follow the Policy, complete the relevant sections and maintain documented records – this is key!

How does it work?

Providing you have fully implemented your pack, and continue to follow it, you will have peace of mind that you are meeting your Food Safety requirements. Your Primary Authority membership then means in the event that enforcement action was proposed by an Environmental Health Officer, any enforcing authority would need to contact Milton Keynes Council first who would then discuss their findings and try to resolve the issue prior to enforcement action being taken.
