eLearning – Scottish Award for Licensed Premises Staff (SALPS)

The eLearning course on Scottish Award for Licensed Premises Staff (SALPS) is designed to help persons understand their responsibilities as a personal licence holder. It covers the legal basis for the required training of staff selling or serving alcohol under the Licensing Scotland Act. The course also includes best practice guidance in managing conflict situations and maintaining a high standard of service. Upon completion, learners will be able to explain licensing and the licensing objectives, understand what constitutes an unlicensed sale, describe the functions and powers of licensing standards officers and recognise the significance of an operating plan within the licensing system. This training is essential for personal licence holders as it ensures compliance with legal requirements and promotes responsible alcohol service. Learners are assessed at the end of the course and must achieve a minimum pass mark. Individual licences must be used within a 12 month period.
