Following the recent announcement that the Safe to Trade Inspection Plan has been granted consent by the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, this session will outline what the decision means in practice for both operators and regulators. The Inspection Plan is administered by Milton Keynes City Council, the Primary Authority for Shield Safety and the Certification Body for Safe to Trade.

In this focussed 30 minute webinar, we will also explore why this recognition matters, including:

  • Regulator confidence: Government confidence in Safe to Trade as a credible and structured approach to food safety assurance.
  • Consistency for operators: A national, agreed approach that reduces variation between local authorities and provides a clearer framework for demonstrating strong standards.
  • Public reassurance: With 78 per cent of diners checking hygiene information before choosing where to eat, recognised assurance helps strengthen public confidence.

The session is hosted by Kelvin Wood, Quality Manager, with insights from:

  • Clare Lycett, Senior Practitioner, Environmental Health Primary Authority Lead Officer, Milton Keynes City Council
  • Michael Jackson, Former Deputy Director, Head of Regulatory Compliance at the FSA
