Allergy advice lifted: mustard ingredients contaminated with peanuts!

Following the recent alert issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) regarding products containing mustard being contaminated by peanuts, the FSA and FSS have now lifted their precautionary advice, which you can read here

What Your Business Should Do Now:

  1. Check Your Ingredients: If you have not done so already, make sure that you are not holding any of the contaminated products. The full list can be found here
  2. Review Allergen Information: Remove any precautionary allergen labels (PAL) related to mustard and peanuts from your allergen matrix. Ensure updated allergen information is available for customers.
  3. Check Stock for PAL: Verify whether any remaining mustard-based products still carry PAL for peanuts and adjust product offerings or communication accordingly.
  4. Inform Your Team: Train staff on these changes so they can confidently address customer questions about mustard products and peanut safety.
  5. Ongoing Vigilance: Encourage customers with peanut allergies to continue checking for PAL on mustard-based products.
  6. Sign Up for Allergy Alerts: Stay ahead of future updates by subscribing to the FSA’s allergy alerts service.
