The Manchester Evening News (M.E.N) Business of the Year Awards celebrated their 25th year on Thursday 9th November with a glittering bash at The Principal Manchester. To mark the occasion, ‘Back to 92’ was the theme, with songs from the year played throughout the night and the event culminating with an afterparty featuring K-Klass.
Describing themselves as ‘the biggest, the best and longest standing business awards in the region with a long history of recognising and rewarding successful businesses across all sectors’, the M.E.N Business of the Year Awards are an important night in the city’s calendar.
Shield Safety Group entered the Awards for the first time this year, entering the category of Turnover under £5m. We were delighted to be shortlisted and were in good company with AccessPay, Manchester Metrology and Exclusec Security Solutions.
The night, hosted by Nicholas Owen, started with a warm welcome from M.E.N Managing Director Paul O’Halloran, followed by entertainment from a mind reader and a singer, before the appetising three course dinner was served.
In addition to celebrating the success of the region, the evening was also a fundraising opportunity with a raffle in aid of Broughton House. The M.E.N launched their ‘Million Pound Salute’ campaign for the Salford care village for veterans just yesterday.
The moment we’d been waiting for all night finally came as the awards commenced. Luckily our category was up second after Real Handful took the award for Young Business of the Year, so we didn’t have to wait any longer. Sponsored by Salford Business School, the strong contenders for our category of Turnover of under £5m were showcased in video clips before the winner was revealed.
Adding to what has already been a fantastic year, Shield Safety Group were chosen as this year’s winners.
The rest of the night saw success for Kids Allowed, IESA, Zen Internet, Inspire, Carrs Food International, Morson Group, The Regatta Group and Milliken European Airbag Products. Congratulations to all the winners and those shortlisted.
