Frequently asked questions

Whether you’re new to managing Food Safety, or looking to upgrade to a solution that gives you that extra protection, this pack is for you. Here are some of our most common queries so you can find out more.

Is the Takeaway Pack right for me?

The Takeaway Pack has been designed for businesses who operate 1-3 sites. If you have more than 3 sites, or your operating procedures go beyond those in the pack (for example cooking methods such as sous vide or smoking) you will need one of our bespoke Food Safety Management Systems. Please get in touch to find out more.

Am I legally required to have a Takeaway Pack?

As a food serving business you are required by law to have a Food Safety Management System in place. While the other components of the pack are not legally required, they do act as due diligence evidence of your compliance. In addition they show your membership status and provide a support network from experienced EHPs.

As an added benefit, the Food Safety Management System and it’s corresponding Diary have Primary Authority Advice which is assured.

Will I be deemed compliant through purchasing a Takeaway Pack?

The Takeaway Pack is your one-stop solution to improving levels of food safety compliance within your business. Included in the Pack are the tools you need to bring your operating procedures in line not only with the law but also industry best practice. However, tools alone are not enough, it is your responsibility to ensure you read the policies thoroughly, implement them and continue to follow them – recording evidence in the Compliance Diary. This is essential in order for you to remain compliant and benefit from Primary Authority Advice.

Note: If you employ more than 5 people, you are also required to have a written Health & Safety Management System in place.

I already use Safer Food, Better Business – am I covered already?

Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) is a great resource and certainly helps businesses with their Food Safety due diligence. We like to think that the Takeaway Pack goes above and beyond this to offer full protection with thorough recording, expert advice and the added benefit of Primary Authority Advice.

Can you tell me more about the protection offered by Primary Authority Advice?

Primary Authority Advice is assured. As long as you are maintaining your records to prove you have implemented and are following the policies, you won’t need to follow conflicting advice from other sources. Your business should be protected against the risk of enforcement action from enforcing authorities with different views regarding what you should be doing to achieve compliance. Enforcement officers recognise the Primary Authority Scheme and will have seen your business on the register before they even visit you. This means your business will benefit from consistency in enforcement.

I’m interested in a Takeaway Pack, what’s the next step?

Simply request a call back and one of our friendly advisors will ring you to talk through the process of signing up and answer any questions you might have about any of the products.

Received a low Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) score?

We can help with that too.

With 68% of consumers considering FHRS ratings before choosing where to eat, a low ‘score on the door’ can be damaging to your business. Our unique rerate service (part of your Takeaway Pack) will support you through the re-rating process, including case management of the Local Authority action plan and onsite coaching visits, to ensure issues have been resolved.
