Whitepaper: John Barnes on Regulating our Future

High profile incidents at 2 Sisters and Russell Hume have led to some criticism of private assurance schemes and concerns that current FSA Regulating Our Future (ROF) proposals for regulators to make greater use of industry assurance in official controls will weaken UK food law enforcement. Additionally, a recent University of Sussex ‘Food Research Collaboration’ Report recommended the FSA should discard most of the proposed ROF reforms or at least halt them pending further parliamentary enquiry. We asked our Strategic Advisor and former Head of Local Delivery at the FSA, John Barnes, for his view on the current situation.
