SALPS

Scottish Award for Licensed Premises Staff (SALPS) is designed to assist you in understanding your responsibilities as a personal license holder, covering the legal basis of the required training of staff selling or serving alcohol under the Licensing Scotland Act 2005. The course also provides good practice in managing conflict situations and the standard of service.

Learning outcomes

  • Explain licensing and the licensing objectives
  • Explain the definition of ‘alcohol’ in the Act
  • Understand what constitutes an unlicensed sale
  • Describe the functions of licensing standards officers and their powers
  • Recognise the nature of an operating plan and its place in the licensing system

Why is this training important?

This course explains the responsibilities as a personal license holder, covering the legal basis of the required training of staff under the Licensing Scotland Act 2005.

Assessment type

Upon completion of the course, learners will complete an end of learning assessment consisting of 20 questions.

70% of the questions will need to be answered correctly in order to pass and receive a certificate.
